Finding THE Motivation As We Enter The Holiday Season

November 20, 2018 | Isa Luzarraga

It can be challenging and quite stressful to get in your recommended minutes of physical activity every day. And especially after Thanksgiving, we are probably all thinking about how many spoonfuls of cranberry sauce and slices of pie we consumed. It can weigh heavily on us, literally. Luckily, there are a lot of little ways to stay active in a short amount of time. So instead of sitting back and listening, stand up so you burn more calories.

Simple everyday things can boost our heart rate and in turn our health and moods. If you sit in a windowless cubicle all day, contemplate taking a leisurely walk on your lunch break or at least do some of your paperwork standing up. Consider blocking off a reasonable period of time for exercise when you get home from work. Maybe it’s only 15 minutes to start, then 30, and eventually a whole hour of physical activity. It can be a simple as going on a walk, to doing a short yoga session, or a full blown workout video. Wherever you start, choose a place where you feel comfortable.

It’s important to remember that sometimes half the battle is just finding the activity that is right for you. Being active sounds like a daunting task, but it doesn’t need to be strenuous or time consuming. Exercise is proven to better our moods, appetites, sleep, and much more. So let’s work off all that stuffing and those dinner rolls, your body will thank you!
