Alexis (she/her) is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Alexis earned her Bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and later went on to earn her Master’s degree in clinical counseling from Bellevue University. Her work experience includes working with victims of domestic and sexual violence, substance abuse prevention, and teaching sex education to high school-aged youth and young adults.

Alexis has focused much of her career on dismantling stigma around mental health within the Black community and is most passionate about helping young people navigate the challenges of experienced trauma, relationship distress, anxiety, depression, and adjusting to major life changes. Additionally, her experience working in sexual health and reproductive justice has allowed her to be well versed in all aspects of sexuality.

Alexis draws from mindfulness-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Somatic Experiencing (SE), which focuses on treating trauma and modifying trauma related stress responses in the body. She is also trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Sand Tray therapy and believes that Narrative/story-telling therapy can assist people in discovering their true identities outside of lived experienced trauma, which leads to agency, liberation, and true healing.
