Michaela is a professionally trained Herbalist, Registered Yoga Teacher, Reiki Master Practitioner, and Birth Doula. As an Herbalist, Michaela helps people restore harmony in their body, mind, and spirit to overcome imbalances and illnesses and sustain vibrant health and wellbeing through customized herbal therapy plans and herbal medicine. Michaela empowers her clients with information about holistic healing, offers support during transformation and growth, inspires a reconnection to nature through the natural healing intelligence of plants, and shares the magic of mindfully formulated plant medicine.
Michaela practices Traditional Western Herbalism, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and Native American Medicine. Michaela’s herbalism specialties include digestive disorders and symptoms, reproductive health, viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections, cardiovascular health, autoimmune diseases, pregnancy health and postpartum health, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, trauma, natural cleansing and detoxifying, natural first aid remedies, and injuries.
She has 2 years of informal herbal training as the former office manager, receptionist, and herbal formulator at a traditional herbalism clinic in Omaha. Through August 2018, she is teaching assistant and student of a 2-year, 250-hour intensive herbalism course with Nicholas Schnell, Clinical Herbalist, RH (AHG), Clinical Nutritionist, RD, LMNT. Michaela is completing an Herbal Apprenticeship and Mentorship with Nicholas Schnell and working toward her certification as a Registered Herbalist.
Michaela is a trained Birth Doula through Carriage House Birth since 2017 and is currently completing her certification as a Birth Doula.
She is a certified Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) since 2014 through The Center for Yoga Seattle with Richard Schachtel, a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and one of the most influential yoga teachers and teacher trainers in the U.S. Michaela offers private instruction in Iyengar-influenced hatha yoga individualized to focus on clients’ unique health and wellness goals.
Michaela received her certification as a Reiki Master Practitioner in the Usui lineage in 2010 and has been mentored in Reiki by her mother, Colleen Brown, a locally renowned Reiki Master, since her level 1 attunement in 2000.
She is a member of the American Herbalists Guild and the Doulas Association of Omaha. She previously worked in nonprofit management for 7 years locally, nationally, and internationally and lived in Africa, South America, and Latin America for 3 years, which influences her daily practice and lifelong passion for community outreach and supporting underserved populations and minority groups.
