Clinical Social Work Student

Elena (she, her, hers) is currently a clinical MSW student/intern emphasizing a mental health concentration in medical settings at Walden University. Her education also includes a B.S. in Journalism and an A.A. in Early Childhood Education. She is fluent in French, Spanish, and Italian brings nearly a decade of experience working as a Family Support Worker with refugee’s/immigrants adults and child victims who have suffered domestic violence, sexual abuse/trafficking, substance abuse, physical/mental trauma, and neglect. Her added employment experiences include working with the parents and their children suffering from severe disabilities such as Autism and A.D.H.D., to attain the resources necessary to receive the treatment and respite services required to manage these types of circumstances. She has also performed duties as Resident Maternity Specialist to homeless, child mothers. Elena is interested in becoming proficient in implementing CBT, and VR technologies such as E.M.D.R. in order to treat patients in a holistic manner to combat the multitude of severe symptoms that accompany traumatic experiences.
