Introduction

November 16, 2017 | Aurora Moreno

My name is Aurora Moreno, I’m a master’s student, currently completing my Masters of Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to join the team at OIC in providing integrative healthcare and honing my skills as an integrative mental health therapist. I am invested in providing support, empowerment, and holding space to heal, for the whole person, including mind, body, and soul. I’m looking forward to meeting clients exactly where they are and joining with them as we move toward not only wellness but empowerment.
With that being said, the spirit of social justice is an important influence for my work as a therapist, and it drives much of my goals for providing integrative mental healthcare. The National Association of Social Workers provides insight to this meaningful intersection between social justice and my work as an integrative social work student: “Social workers strive to ensure access to needed information, services, and resources; equality of opportunity; and meaningful participation in decision making for all people” (“Code of Ethics”, 2008). Each individual deserves access to meaningful care and services that supports the entirety of their personhood, autonomy, and lived experience; OIC has provided an incredible team of integrative practitioners invested in providing these empowering supports here in Omaha.
As a student practitioner here at OIC, I have the opportunity to provide services at a discounted rate, and I believe this can help to make space for individuals seeking services who might lack financial means for therapy, in pursuit toward supporting equity and justice in mental health here in Omaha. I’d like to make the most of this opportunity, by seeking out those who would love to receive the intentional and meaningful wellness that is provided at OIC who may experience barriers to receiving services, including financial constraints, experience of discrimination, trauma, anxieties, or fears associated with seeking therapy. If this resonates with you or perhaps someone you know, give OIC a call to schedule a session with me ! I sincerely look forward to beginning my journey as an integrative mental health therapist within this incredible wellness community at OIC.
